Candace Cameron Bure's DWTS Photo Creates Dispute Between Christian Fans: 'There's Only One Way to Heaven...Has Nothing to Do With Length of a Skirt
The battle between Christians continues, on former full house actress Candace Cameron Bure's Facebook page, and now it is because of a "Dancing with the Stars" promotional picture of Bure. Recent comments made by the actress displays that although a professing Christian she is not at all happy with people using God to criticize or define her.
Bure seemed delighted to share a new promotional photo of herself and her dance partner Mark Ballas for season 18 of DWTS.
"Here it is!! Our official 'Dancing with the Stars' team photo! I'm having a blast with my partner Mark Ballas who is a very kind, patient and encouraging teacher. Phew!! Just one week to go before our live premier March 17!" she wrote along with posting the photo on her various social media pages.
Within minutes an onslaught of comments ambushed 37-year-old Bure's Facebook page, some of her followers criticizing her pose, many praising her beauty and others condemning her outfit. In the photo Bure is seen clothed with a black spaghetti string sequin dress, above her knees showcasing her toned legs with a heart-shaped neckline.
"I am looking forward to watching! I just wanted to suggest that you could make your costumes more modest? Like, covering the busts and skirt below the knees? Just a word of wisdom to the wise for my sister in Christ" one suggestive follower posted.
Another seemly upset with all the comments of dressing modestly wrote, "People need to get over the modesty thing!!! She's not even showing as much skin as she would in a bathing suit. The costumes are part of the fun for her. Geez! Good luck to her, she looks amazing!"
"Maybe it's time to start looking at our own faults instead of judging others and making our convictions theirs," one more said, adding, "Christ doesn't call us to bring judgment to anyone other than ourselves ..... So glad and encouraged to see someone who loves The Lord having an impact in modern society!!"
A disapproving comment read, "Disappointed. So many Christians will watch and think this is great, what ever happened to be different from this world?"
"Who are you to judge anyone? Last time I checked, there is only one way into heaven, and it has nothing to do with the length of a skirt," another retaliated.
One more stating, "Don't forget to keep those dresses modest. Don't let a big show talk you into lowering your standards for yourself."
Bure fed up with all the open Christian debates on her page penned a blog titled "Who REALLY Runs My FB Page?" last month, addressing her commenters. As the author, wife and mother of three gains popularity she also has gained a lot of criticism. "ME!" She exclaims answering the questioned posed in her headline.
"I'm too religious, I'm not Godly enough, I'm too thin now, I'm not very humble, I've had too much plastic surgery, My brother Kirk is a better Christian than me, I'm too worldly, I'm too conservative, I'm not modest enough, I'm a show-off... Those are just a few of the types of comments I get no matter what I share, what photo I post or what I say," she protests.
The back and forth on her page always erupts into an offensive debate of demeaning message from people trying to dispute Gods word. Bure explains that she is not happy with those things.
She went on to say, "All I see is a bunch of religious people throwing around bible verses attacking each other and bunch of non-religious people wondering why in the world they would ever want to be a part of this group?!"
"I'm not trying to please everyone, I only have an audience of ONE. That's God," Bure declared.
The successful author says although she values the title of being a role model, she urges her fans to look to God because like every other human she is not perfect.
"Please look to Jesus and only Jesus for perfection," Bure stated while closing her blog post.
"I wont ever stop being the real me to be an illusion of a better but fake Christian version of myself. Can we please keep in mind that people are on their own journey with Christ and are all walking at different speeds and knowledge," she closes.
