‘Transformers 5’ Release Date, Cast Rumors: Producers Hold Back Details, No Lead Role or Director Announced

While the upcoming blockbuster 'Transformers 5' has been pegged with a 2016 release date, no news has broke about its official list of casts.

So far Paramount Pictures has announced the release date, but nothing more, the director as well as the cast is being kept a secret for now.

The director of previous 'Transformers' movies, Michael Bay, expressed his decision to let a new director take his place for the next movies in the series, since he would want to turn his focus on a different project.

"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make," said Bay, who wants to do a documentary on elephant poaching.

"I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles," he added.

With the 49-year-old director leaving the 'Transformers' film franchise, it can be expected that the next film will undergo several other changes, including its cast.

Mark Wahlberg, who replaced Shia LaBeouf as the lead actor in 'Transformers: Age of Extinction', is also said to be leaving the movie series. This means that along with the directorial position, the slot for the lead actor is also open.

While there are rumors saying that Josh Duhamel, who appeared in the first two films, would be the lead in 'Transformers 5', others believe that this time, a woman, specifically Megan Fox, could take the lead in the forthcoming movie.

Fox has previously expressed her desire to return for the 'Transformers 5' even if it would just be a cameo appearance. The 'Jennifer's Body' actress who took part in the first two 'Transformers' movie was not in 'Transformers 3' after she allegedly made comments comparing Michael Bay to Hitler.

Although the directorial post and castings are still unclear for 'Transformers 5', it has been confirmed that Ehren Kruger will take part in the movie; Paramount has tapped him as a screenwriter.

'Transformers 5' is scheduled to hit theaters in 2016.
