'Zoolander 2' New Cast News: Justin Bieber Tapped for Role in Upcoming Sequel Film
The sequel to Ben Stiller's hit comedy, 'Zoolander' has recently picked up another talent to appear in the film, and that's none other than pop star Justin Bieber.
Stiller and Bieber both shared a black and white picture of them having a stare off, with Stiller in costume as his Derek Zoolander character. They both also hashtagged the picture #zoolander2.
"Many high profile stars are expected to cameo in Zoolander 2 alongside cast members Stiller, Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor, Billy Zane and Penelope Cruz, including Olivia Munn, Kristen Wiig and perhaps even Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Only Karl Lagerfeld has publicly turned down the sequel: "I'm not an actor," the fashion designer told Hello! Magazine," writes EW.
Along with the Instagram picture, Bieber was also spotted on set for the film.
"And while the blonde star is seen sporting a dark, spiky hairstyle similar to that of Ben's, he was keen to point out that 'it's a wig, not my hair' as he shared the image on his own Instagram account.
Justin was seen jetting out of Los Angeles International Airport early Monday, as he made his way to Europe, where production on the movie is currently in progress," writes Daily Mail.
It hasn't been confirmed yet if the pop singer will actually star in the film, or cameo. If he were to actually carry a role, this would make it Bieber's first actual movie. This could possibly open doors for him to star in other major Hollywood films.
The first 'Zoolander' film premiered in 2001, two weeks after the 9/11 incident. While this did hurt box office results, the movie saw great numbers in its DVD release.
There is some doubt around the sequel on the count of the time gap, but Stiller currently seems confident in its return.
"For me and the people who are big fans of the movie, I want to make sure that we're doing it in a way that we felt good about it,' Stiller told Coming Soon. "It takes a lot of elements to come together for that to happen."
'Zoolander 2' is set to hit theaters on February 12th, 2016.
