Zayn Malik News: Former 1D Member Responds to Fans Who Want Him to Dump His Fiancé

Fans of Zayn Malik have started a Twitter campaign with the focus of getting Malik to end his engagement with Perrie Edwards of Little Mix, and shortly after, Malik took to social media to respond.

Since Malik left One Direction in March, fans of the band have not been very happy.

However, things have escalated to another level, after fans began to attack his personal life, particularly his love life on Twitter.

The hashtag #CANCELYOURENGAGEMENTZAYN trended across the nation on July 7th, but Malik took action and respond via his own Twitter account to the demand.

Instead of taking a direct approach, Malik posted a picture of himself sitting in the sun shirtless, and captioned it "Need the sunnies today."

Some fans interpreted this as Malik referring to all of the shade that he is getting from his fans on the Internet.

Once Malik posted this picture, his fans seemed to begin to come to his defense and that of his fiance, saying that the hashtag is disrespectful to the couple.

Some even tried to override the popularity of the original hashtag by making a new one that said #CantWaitForYourWeddingZayn, and trying to make it trend instead.

It is likely that the original hashtag was created in response to the fact that Edwards has been blamed for Malik's departure from One Direction, and fans hoped that if the engagement, which has been two years long, does end, Malik will go back to the band.

There has been a lot of speculation about the couple's relationship, but both Edwards and Malik have frequently dismissed these speculations using social media.
