Should Yasiel Puig Make 2013 All-Star Game? Should Dodgers Outfielder Start on National League Roster?

As the 2013 All-Star Break approaches, fans are getting excited to see the MLB's best players face off in what's ultimately a big party celebrating the league's talent. Speaking of league talent, should rising Dodgers superstar Yasiel Puig be included in 2013 All-Star Game.

Sure he's only been in the league for about a month [26 games into his MLB career], but he's posting up the biggest numbers in the month of June.

Just because Puig is new to the league doesn't mean he shouldn't be invited to the All-Star Team. In fact many baseball analysts think Puig should not only be on the team, he should start for the National League!

Out of eight position starters and a designated hitter, Puig really can't find a starting role on the National League team? Who could beat Puig out of the starting job?

Sure Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is the NL's leader in total bases. Sure Carlos Beltran is having a career year for the Cardinals. Sure Andre McCutchen is one of the best young stars in baseball. Before going down the entire list, this year's Puig vs All-Star Team debate begs one question.

If Bryce Harper is guaranteed a spot on the NL All-Star roster, why doesn't Puig. I get it. Having Harper on the field is good for baseball. But so is Puig!

Sure, Puig has only played 26 games, about half as many as Harper this season, but he's an exciting player, that to our better knowledge isn't taking PEDs!

All in all, Puig probably won't get the credit he's earned, and won't join the NL All-Star team this year in New York. But if he continues to play out the rest of the 2013 season the same way he came in, everybody will know he should have started that game.
