The New York Yankees face conference rival the Baltimore Orioles today at 4:05 ET.

Though the Orioles started out on the right foot, they've lost 3 of their last 10 games [5 in a row], putting them four games back in the AL East. Though the team is getting some offensive production from hitters Manny Machado [.328], Adam Jones [3.22], and Chris Davis [.313], the team as a whole is only hitting .267. Pitching woes keeping the Orioles from winning more games.

Good luck finding any sympathy from the batter Yankees lineup. Pitcher Andy Pettitte [strained left trapezius muscle - 15 day DL] is the most recent name added to the Yankees long list of injuries. That list also includes 1B Mark Teixeira, 3B Alex Rodriguez, and SS Derek Jeter, among many more pivotal players.

Despite plenty of reasons not to, the Yankees are still playing good ball. There 7-3 in their last 10 games and 12-7 on the road.

For the game today Yankees left C.C. Sabathia will get the start. In close to 60 innings Sabathia is 4-3, with a 3.19 ERA. Not his best work but should be fine against the slumping Orioles. Former Yankee Freddy Garcia will take the mound for Baltimore. Garcia [0-2, 5.51 ERA] allows a hit almost every inning. He'll look to improve after losing his last two starts.
