Let the second half of the major league baseball season begin. Let's start with the big series at Fenway Park between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. Pettitte [7-6, 4.39 ERA] is on the bump for the traveling Yankees. The Red Sox answer with Doubront [6-3, 3.91 ERA].

Pettitte has given up four runs in each of his last three starts. However, the Yankees still won all three, giving the struggling pitcher some much needed run support. His numbers have been terrible the last two months.

Doubront is coming off two straight wins and a really strong outing against Seattle in his last appearance only allowing one run in seven innings.

The consensus is that the Yankees overachieved winning in the beginning of the season. Alex Rodriquez, Derek Jeter, Curtis Granderson are among some of the high-profile players riding the Yankees DL. Now with Cano hit by a pitch in the All-Star Game, the Yankees are struggling to find a ray of light.

Being 6 games behind the Red Sox, every game matters. Yankees fans should learn a lot in this three-game series against the AL East leading Red Sox.
