Xiaomi MIUI 7 Release Date News: Tech Titan to Launch Next Version of Xiaomi Android Skin on Aug. 13

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has just announced that it will be releasing its next version of Android skin, MIUI 7, on Aug. 13. The announcement has enthused fans, who are hoping that the company will also launch the much anticipated Mi5 handset at the upcoming event in China.

According to IB Times, the event date chosen by Xiaomi may perhaps be a coincidence, or perhaps deliberate, as the South Korean tech titan Samsung has ealier announced that it will be releasing it widely expected top-end Galaxy Note 5 phablet on the same day.

Following the release pattern of its previous devices, Xiaomi has already sent out invites along with teasers for the Aug. 13 event. This time, the company has sent the invites with the number 7 made up of tangram shapes. According to Xiaomi, the much hyped event is to be held in Beijing, at the China National Convention Center. The company is also offering its fans an opportunity to win invitation letters, strictly in the form of souvenirs, as well as MIUI 7 T-shirts.

Apart from the premium specs and inexpensive prices, Xiaomi smartphones are very popular for the several tweaks and features that the MIUI offers based on the stock Android versions. When Xiaomi released a new MIUI version the last time, the company also released a new high-end handset, the Mi4. Eventually, the Mi4 turned out to be one of the best selling premium handsets of the company.

Therefore, expectations are high that Xiaomi will showcase the MIUI 7 on the Mi5. Xiaomi fans are of the view that the company has already delayed the Mi5. The device was first rumored to be released in December at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. However, Xiaomi released another flagship, the Mi Note, a larger phablet, on the occasion.

Currently, it is widely believed that the Mi5 will be the next smartphone that Xiaomi will release. Many expect the device will also be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. Xiaomi's current premium Android flagship phones run on the 801 or 810 versions.
