Xbox One Update News: Improved Friend Notifications, Kinect Voice Command and Motion, DVR Quality, and Blu-Ray Fixes Coming in April

Xbox One will be getting an update in April that will improve friend notifications, DVR quality, Kinect functions, and Blu-Ray output.

IGN reported, some of the major updates will be a progress bar to keep track of game saves, and monitor the completion of games and apps. The updates to the Friends List will notify gamers when their friends are active.

As far as Kinect, IGN reported Microsoft would be improving the voice command and motion features. The Blu-Ray issue is mainly for European gamers who had trouble playing movies in 50hz. The problem is caused by the Xbox One being designed in America, which runs normally on 60hz.

Microsoft also announced the console will be heading to 26 more countries in September. The countries include: Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates.

In November, the Xbox One launched in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the U.K. and the U.S. A number of countries were cut from that initial launch due to manufacturing worries, and last minute tweeks to the system.

Recently it was confirmed Xbox One controllers are compatible with the Windows PC.

Albert Pennello, Microsoft's director of product management, clarified rumors that Xbox was developing a special controller for the computer, and also locking out compatibility with Windows.

"This is 100% wrong," Penello wrote in NeoGAF. "When the drivers become available, they will work with the existing controllers. There is no plan to do a new, separate controller that only works on Windows. It will be the same as it is on Xbox 360 - the Xbox One controller you have today will work."

He continued, "That's not to say that we may not ship also PC SKU of the Xbox One controller, much like we do on Xbox 360."

According to Polygon, it is uncertain on whether the controllers will ever receive wireless functionality with the computer. However, Penello seems to be mum about further details.

"No more updates on the timeframe beyond what's been publicly stated. The plan is this year. When the update comes out and we have more details, I can explain the holdup," he said.
