'X-Men' New Movie News: Bryan Singer Confirms 'Fantastic Four' Crossover Film

A couple weeks ago it was reported that Bryan Singer would be tasked with directing the first crossover film between the 'X-Men' franchise and the newly rebooted 'Fantastic Four' franchise.

The director has since come forward to speak on the project, confirming that it is something being discussed at a present time.

"Those ideas are in play," he tells Yahoo News. "That would be a natural match-up because they're both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it."

While he would love to see the movie come to fruition, there are many things contingent on it becoming reality, such as the success of the upcoming 'Apocalypse' movie, along with the 'Fantastic Four' reboot.

"We'll have to see how the films turn out," Singer says. "To just say you're going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that."

Naturally the director couldn't give out many details on what the film would entail however he did confirm that it would deal with time, indicating a number of scenarios.

"Meanwhile, the 'Fantastic Four' reboot hits cinemas in August. We know that the quartet's origin story has been tweaked to involve parallel universes, which might explain how the superheroes could meet. Readers of Marvel comic books will know that writers frequently employ alternate worlds and realities as a storytelling device to bring together disparate characters," writes Yahoo.

'Fantastic Four' hits theaters in just under a month, leaving the deliberation on that movie to hit soon. While the 'X-Men' films have commonly been a successful venture, many things will change with this iteration, making its release on May 27, 2016, highly anticipated.
