X-Men: Apocalypse Release Date, Plot News: Writer Reveals Possible Story
The third and seemingly final installment for the X-Men series, 'X-Men: Apocalypse' is not expected to hit the theaters until May of 2016, but avid fans of the blockbuster franchise can't seem to wait for more details about the highly anticipated movie.
X-Men writer Simon Kinberg recently graced an interview for the website Latino Review, where he revealed what X-Men fanatics could expect in the 2016 film. Kinberg stated that the latest installment will incorporate stories of the past X-Men movies 'First Class' and 'Days of the Future Past' in the plot for the upcoming film.
Kinberg also stated that the movie is likely to encompass origin stories of X-Men characters Professor Charles (Professor X), Raven Darkholme (Mistique), Dr. Hank McCoy (Beast), and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto). Kinberg added that this historic chapter in the latest X-Men installment is likely to take on the 80's setting.
Although there are rumors that Hollywood actor Channing Tatum is set to play the role of kinetic energy-manipulating character Gambit, the movie writer neither confirmed nor denied this assertion.
So far, the powerhouse cast confirmed by the film's producers is lead by Australian action superstar Hugh Jackman, who is set to play Logan (Wolverine) for the fifth time in the much-awaited movie.
Jackman will be joined by Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, set to play Raven (Mistique); Michael Fassbender as Erik (Magneto); James McAvoy as Charles (Professor X); Nicholas Hoult as Hank (Beast); and Evan Peters as Peter (Quicksilver), whose character stars in the upcoming 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' movie, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, which is set to premiere next year. Although the Quicksilver in X-Men and the Quicksilver in Avengers is the same character in essence, Marvel chose to make the characters appear dissimilar.
Meanwhile, X-Men spin off 'Wolverine 3', in which the title role is also played by Jackman, will be released in March of 2017.
