‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Movie Cast Rumors, News: Tom Hardy to Play Super Villain?
Tom Hardy, who played Bane, Batman's enemy in the DC movie 'The Dark Knight Rises', is said to be playing the role of the insurmountable villain, Apocalypse, in the highly-anticipated Marvel film 'X-Men Apocalypse', slated for 2016.
Two big movie producers, Marvel and Warner Bros.are reportedly trying to reel n Hardy to star in 'X-Men Apocalypse' and 'Suicide Squad', respectively.
"Tom Hardy was once rumored to be in contention for 'Doctor Strange,' though he was recently been courted for WB's 'Suicide Squad' and the title role in 'X-Men Apocalypse,' so don't expect to see him join the MCY anytime soon," a source from ComicBook.com stated.
Cinema Blend reports that Hardy would be perfect for the role of Apocalypse since he gained positive feedback from his portrayal of Bane in the Batman movies and shows commitment to his role-even if it requires changing his body. He buffed up for his roles in 'The Dark Knight Rises' as well as 'Warrior'.
Aside from that, his portfolio includes excellent performances in movies like 'Inception', 'The Drop' and 'Locke'.
Meanwhile, before playing as Apocalypse, Hardy is set to play the lead role in post apocalyptic action film 'Mad Max: Fury Road'.
For those who may not know, "The Four Horsemen of Apocalypse" are four X-Men characters named Archangel, Holocaust, Exodus and Selene. They are headed by Apocalypse, a powerful supervillain, believed to be the first born mutant on Earth, whose roots started thousands of years ago during the Egyptian civilization.
Apocalypse, also known as "En Sabah Nur" was pictured as a behemoth, and a very intelligent mutant so to say. Apocalypse appeared before in previous X-Men film 'Days of Future Past' so seeing him in the upcoming movie reportedly came to no surprise.
The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' is set to premiere on May 27, 2016.
