Recently, former Spice girl and 'X Factor' judge Mel B was surprised by her husband as he presented her with an upgrade of her wedding ring. The ring was showcased and given to the singer on the latest episode of the 'X Factor'.

The man behind the romantic gesture, Mel B's husband, is 40-year-old Stephen Belafonte. Belafonte surprised her by upgrading her wedding ring to a new £20,000 diamond version. It has been reported that Belafonte promised his 39-year-old wife to upgrade her ring every three years.

Moved by her husband's romantic gift, Mel B showed off her newly upgraded ring on the air, later saying, "My husband turned up today and I thought something was wrong and then he just handed me this massive sparkler of a ring."

"I thought, 'Oh my God'. It's so big, it's gorgeous, I absolutely love it. He's very sweet like that my husband. Every couple of years he gets me an upgrade," she added.

According to reports the ring was purchased at Leon Diamond in New York. The big rock consists of an enormous square diamond surrounded by dozens of smaller bright gems.

Meanwhile, everything looks good for Mel B's career as a Judge on the show. Rumor has it that Simon Cowell promised a good future for her. "Simon is very sweet, I woke up this morning to this amazing email from him. It was really long and he told me how proud he was of me," she said.

"He said how thrilled he was that I was part of the 'X Factor' family and he thinks I'm doing great. That means a lot to me," she continued. So far all is well for the hardworking mother of two.
