WWE Rumors and Spoilers 2014 News: Stone Cold on Whether Career Was Better than Hulk Hogan - Fight John Cena at Wrestlemania 31 (VIDEOS)
WWE HOF Stone Cold Steve Austin recently answered the debate that has divided professional wrestling fans for nearly two decades: Who is the greatest legend in WWE history?
"If you're talking to me, it's going to be Stone Cold Steve Austin," said Austin on a Texas radio station, according to a Wrestling Inc report, "If you guys are talking to Hulk, it's going to be him."
The former six-time WWE (formerly known as WWF) Champion from Victoria, Texas further expressed his views on why he believes his legendary career was better than Hogan's.
"I respect Hulk Hogan because his career lasted some 30 odd years," said Austin, "I think I lasted about 15, but during my peak years, I took the business to a height it never seen before.
In addition, he also talked about Hogan's impact on the world of sports entertainment today, after the movement known as 'Hulkamania' ran wild in the WWE (then WWF) in the mid-1980's.
"When you say to anybody off the street, 'Hey, do you know anything about pro wrestling?' They'll say, 'Yeah, wasn't that guy Hulk Hogan a pro wrestler?' His name might come to your mind before mine, so I give that guy all due respect. He had a tremendous run," said Austin.
Austin, along with The Rock, were the two popular WWE superstars during the Attitude Era (which took place when during the late 1990's until their rival company WCW was bought by Vince McMahon in 2001.)
"We were so opposite. I mean, he is Stone Cold Steve Austin, and here's the Rock. So opposite yet parallel each other in terms of desire, commitment, and wanting to be the best," said The Rock when he talked about his feud with Austin, according to a Wrestle Enigma report.
Though Austin and Hogan never fought each other at Wrestlemania, fans have always wondered who would have won if the two battled in a one-on-one match on the aforementioned grandest stage of them all.
Before Hogan celebrated his 61st birthday on 'Monday Night Raw' on August 11, The former 12-time World Champion revealed that he wants to face the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena at WrestleMania 31.
"Brother, my goal, my goal is to perform in the ring again. You know, it's not if, it's when. Because I've been training like crazy and my back, the crazy thing is that my back doesn't hurt at all. My back's perfect, you know I've finally got my back straightened out. Now I'm really trying to get myself into that type of shape," said Hogan on The Matthew Aaron Show podcast recently.
"Because if you get in that WWE ring you gotta bring it like The Rock says. You know, and the last time I brought it they were begging me to take it back. But, anyway, to make a long story short, if I get in there I want to make sure I'm ready to go and I give them something really to remember me by. So my goal in life would be to perform again in that WWE ring," he concluded.
