WWE Latest Rumors, Spoilers 2014: Stone Cold Aims For Comeback Fight At WrestleMania 31 or 32?
WWE HOF Stone Cold Steve Austin revealed in a new interview that he might consider coming out of retirement in order to compete in a match at an upcoming WrestleMania PPV event.
"I'll reserve my right to if I want to have another match down the road - say, like, Dallas, Texas is going to be (WrestleMania) 32. Now, 31 is right down the road from me. That could be doable, but I don't see it happening," said Austin to PW Torch in an interview.
However, the 49-year-old Victoria, Texas native revealed that competing in another WrestleMania in his home state is very intriguing to 'The Texas Rattlesnake'.
"Now, Dallas, that could be very special going back to Texas for 32. They're going to need a loaded card to fill that house. So, I'll reserve my right. But, am I pushing, pandering, selling, promoting? Nothing... I'm not going to sit here and be the bitter ex-wrestler. I'm "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, I'm in the Hall of Fame," said Austin.
He went on to say, "I had a blast in the business of professional wrestling. But, these days, it's a little more micro-managed. Man, when I was running white-hot as Stone Cold, I could do and say whatever I wanted. And, I had a great business relationship with Vince (McMahon). There was friction here and there, but we would talk about what we were going to do and we would go do it."
Austin's longtime friend and former WWE HOF announcer and talent evaluator Jim Ross (aka Good Ol' JR) recently talked about Stone Cold returning to the squared circle at Wrestlemania.
"Love the speculation on @steveaustinBSR talk of coming back to do one last match at WM32 if it is going to be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The average fan has zero idea how long the odds are on that ever occurring but I assume it's fun to speculate. No one would like to see it more than me but...," said Ross on his official blog.
Stone Cold has not competed in a WWE ring since losing to The Rock at WrestleMania 19 in 2003, ending a legendary feud, which began in 1997, when The Rock was a member of a militant faction called The Nation of Domination (an imitation of the Nation of Islam).
That year, both men competed for the Intercontinental title prior to their respective WWE (then WWF) Championship reigns a year later, highlighted by three epic main event matches at the grandest stage in professional wrestling history: WrestleMania (15, 17 and 19).
