'WWE 2K15' Roster News, Rumors: CM Punk Confirmed to Appear in Upcoming Game (VIDEO)
In latest 'WWE 2K15' roster news, former WWE superstar CM Punk has now been confirmed to be a playable character in upcoming videogame, despite the fact that he shockingly left the company earlier this year.
"Last week we had a chance to sit in on a conference call to discuss the new mode in WWE 2K15, 2K Showcase. This mode will feature two of the top rivalries in WWE history, Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels from 2002 through 2004 and John Cena vs. CM Punk from 2011 through 2013. Yes, you read that correctly, CM Punk is in 'WWE 2K15"² and featured in the new mode in a major way," said an official press release.
Along with Triple H's legendary rivalry with his former Degeneration X (aka DX) member "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, the game's new Showcase mode also highlights Punk's epic feud with Cena from a few years ago.
"The moment Triple H ended his longtime friendship with 'The Heartbreak Kid' by slamming him with a Pedigree was a defining moment in WWE history," said 2K's Marketing Vice President Chris Snyder in a statement.
"No fan can deny the fierce competition marking the notorious battles waged between Cena and Punk. These two rivalries are firmly etched in WWE history, and 2K Showcase enables fans to take part in those memorable experiences."
During his recent rivalry with Cena, CM Punk had the longest WWE championship title reign in the past 25 years after he defeated Alberto Del Rio for the most prestigious prize in professional wrestling history at the Survivor Series PPV event on November 20, 2011.
However, Punk's extraordinary and lengthy title reign of 434 consecutive days came to an end on January 27, 2013 when "The People's Champ" The Rock defeated him at the Elimination Chamber's main event title match.
Like Punk, Del Rio is no longer with the WWE after he was recently released by the company after a backstage incident, where "The Mexican Aristocrat" allegedly slapped a WWE employee after the man reportedly said a racist comment regarding the Mexican superstar behind his back.
'WWE 2K15' will arrive in American stores on October 28 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
