Of late, it has become very common to hear fans chanting "CM Punk" whenever AJ Lee takes to the ring, especially whenever the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) organizes its show in Chicago.

While these fans may not intend to harm Lee, it seems to have taken its toll and, in fact, is being viewed by some as a threat to the current (Women's) champion's employment.

Everyone is aware that AJ Lee is Punk's last connection to the WWE world, and as his wife, the strain between Lee and her employers is increasing, especially when you consider the current legal battle between CM Punk and Vince McMahon and the WWE.

In January, Punk left WWE very unceremoniously over disagreements regarding the manner in which his character was being developed. In return, WWE fired back by pulling all his merchandise from online WWE stores, and the most recent incident is that Punk and his representatives are demanding royalties from the inclusion of the wrestler in the roster of playable characters in WWE '2K15'.

Things became so bad that the WWE has ordered fans to put down as well as ban CM Punk signs during matches.

The Inquisitr was one of the first to report turbulence between Lee and WWE. One of their articles, said that "they create a tense situation for AJ Lee with her employer. After all, CM Punk walked out on his contract because he basically wanted to book himself."

On its part, WWE has been flip-flopping on its comments about CM Punk. Only recently, speaking on WGN Morning News, Stephanie McMahon said that the Straight Edge Arrow was an "incredible character" and that they were not certain about what the future holds, definitely not shutting the door on his return.

All said and done, AJ Lee, who took the championship from Paige and Nikki Bella during the Night of Champions event, is also among the valued talents of the current wrestling world. With the Bella sisters wearing out their welcome and looking halfhearted in the acting department, as of now, Lee is safe. However, it is only a matter of time until new faces surface, and one among them is NXT prospect, Charlotte.
