'World War Z' Release June 21st Starring Brad Pitt, Movie of the Summer or Box Office Flop? (VIDEO)

The action-packed thriller movie for the summer could be the surprise, World War Z.

The film is directed by Marc Forster and written by Matthew Carnahan. The material for the movie comes from Max Brooks' 2006 apocalyptic horror novel by the same name. Brad Pitt plays the role of Gerry Lane, a United Nations investigator, who is forced back into duty to find a cure for a zombie pandemic that seeks to destroy the world. The special effects are riveting and intense as a battle rages for the rescue of humanity.

The initial zombie outbreak takes place in Philadelphia with Lane frantically seeking to save his family and get them to safety. A heart-stopping moment in the movie comes when the zombies take over a commercial airliner and leave Lane no choice but to explode a grenade while the plane is in flight.

An interesting sub plot to the movie is, "How do you kill and get rid of zombies?" They have no leaders, they need no food or essentials of any kind to exist. As their plague grows, they continue to come and come, amassing in greater numbers exponentially.

Soon they are swarming together like locusts. They are like an ugly, ferocious enemy that continues to grow unrelenting in their attack on humanity to destroy it. The movie is full of high adventure and drama as Lane combats this mortal enemy and seeks to save humanity from it's deadly influence.

World War Z releases on June 21st in the U.S. on in 2D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D from Paramount Pictures.
