The Wolf of Wall Street Movie Release Date Review: Trailer Leaves Audiences in Limbo / Is This a Serious Thriller or Fun Comedy? [TRAILER]
The Wolf of Wall Street movie will hit theaters on Christmas Day this year after its initial release date of November 16 was pushed back. The movie is making a push for a Golden Globe this year, but so far critics are unsure whether it is going to be the comedy movie that Paramount Pictures claims it is, or a raucous thriller as the trailer suggests.
HitFix's Kristopher Tapley seemed to think that the trailer was "too fun" and that the plot and characters of the movie were not well represented by the trailer. Will The Wolf of Wall Street put a late game twist on the Oscar race?
Kevin Jagernauth from IndieWire.com wrote an article about The Wolf of Wall Street. He wrote, "A brand new, pretty entertaining trailer has dropped, giving a whole new look at what Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are cooking up - and it looks like "Boiler Room" and "Wall Street" on cocaine. It's all based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, a wheeling, dealing and very crooked New York stockbroker who rose to the top fueled by sex, drugs and alcohol, and fell just as hard. And by his side, in what looks like another surprising turn from Jonah Hill, was Donnie Azoff, who matched his pal's penchant for debauchery."
Another glaring issue with this movie is that its running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. We trust that Scorsese can pull it off, especially with Leo at the helm of the cast.
