Windows 10 Latest News: Fixes and Changes to New Operating System
The new build of Windows 10 (9860), which is a major step up from the last build (9841), boasts of a variety of new features and fixes for bugs according to CNET.
According to Microsoft, there have been 7,000 new improvements since the first Windows 10 build and that includes several unforeseen features like Action Center and Next Generation Credentials.
The new Action Center draws its idea from the Windows Phone and lists common updates. The functionalities like virtual desktop and Windows Update has also seen some improvement. In the virtual desktop, a new animation is added when desktop screens are being shifted. Users can also use shortcut keys to shift the apps between multiple monitors or screens.
The Next Generation Credentials, will help the users with a Windows 10 device to authenticate their device. When combined with an alphanumeric pin or biometric proof, the user will be able to login to any supported mobile service associated with the device.
With the help of the pin, phishing attacks or database breaches can be detected and prevented. Also, if the device is stolen, it will be useless without the pin. However, the authentication process which is followed is not proprietary, but based on FIDO Alliance standard, which includes members of the computing world like Microsoft, Lenovo, Google payment, and banking companies including Paypal, Mastercard, Visa, and security firms who are established.
Thus, it is advisable for new users to not install Windows 10 technical update on a primary machine, especially if the device does not have dual boot to support itself.
