Windows 10 Anniversary Update Release Date, News: 'Significant New Features' Promised In July
News of the Windows 10 anniversary update was already mentioned by Microsoft during the Build 2016, but there was no exact release date announced then, except that it's going to be this summer.
However, in a blog news post, Microsoft might have revealed the release date for the Windows 10 anniversary update when it talked about one of the features for the OS, the personal digital assistant Cortana.
The post said, "Cortana helps you be more productive by handling key tasks like sending emails, scheduling events, and using the power of Bing to quickly search your devices, the cloud, or the web. Cortana is also the best digital assistant at reminders, letting you set them in more ways including by pen, and [coming in July 2016] pulling reminder-relevant info from emails so you have the details at hand. And you can instantly capture your ideas by voice just by telling Cortana to take a note."
The other features for the Windows 10 anniversary update include:
Microsoft Passport and Windows Hello: a multifactor authentication service which improves security for the user.
Conditional Access: a security feature that allows companies to detect and avoid low-level malware in networks.
Device Guard: a program that locks down devices, and only includes apps and programs that the user trusts.
Tablet Mode: menus and taskbars can be easily changed to maximize user's navigation experience. The apps can also adapt depending on the screen so they always "look good from the smallest app window up to the larget 8k displays."
Voice, pen, touch and gesture: This will again maximize user's experience to make sure that they can utilize the device to its optimum.
