Wii U and 3DS Games: Dr. Luigi, Kirby Triple Deluxe, and Yoshi's New Island Heading to Nintendo Consoles in 2014 (VIDEOS)

Last week Nintendo announced a trio of new game's coming to their consoles, Dr. Luigi, Kirby Triple Deluxe, and Yoshi's New Island.

Dr. Luigi is an update over original Nintendo classic, Dr. Mario. The game will be available for the Wii U eShop on December 31 in the U.S. and on January 15 in Europe. The gameplay is a little different than the original Dr. Mario, but has those same elements and includes online player and multi-player.

Dr. Luigi is a little easier than its predecessor in that four colors have to be matched instead of two. It is similar to Tetris, Snood, or Sega's Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. There is a retro mode that goes back to the classic style of play in Dr. Mario.

Kirby Triple Deluxe is for the 3DS, and will be arriving in 2014.

"The stage stretches into the distance beyond where Kirby is currently walking," said Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata in the video. The game will feature multiple levels of the stage with Kirby able to switch back and forth between the foreground of the stage and the background scenery.

Kirby will have a number of new abilities as well, including Hyper Nova. This move can only be used once a level and will use Kirby's inhale ability to the extreme as he sucks in entire backdrops and parts of the level and changes them, allowing for a different route to open.
Within the game, there is also a four player mode called Kirby Fighters, which will play like Super Smash Bros. "Which copy ability is the most powerful of them all?" Iwata asked in the presentation.

Kirby's arch-nemesis, King Dedede will also be getting a mini game called, Dedede's Drum Dash. It will be a rhythm matching game.

Yoshi's New Island for the 3DS was announced for a spring 2014 release. The game is a sequel to 1995's Super Nintendo classic, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and will be headed by the same creator Takashi Tezuka.

Being first revealed at E3 2013, the game will have similar art direction as the other game with backgrounds that look childish and drawn on. Baby Mario will again be on Yoshi's back, and he will try his best to protect him from enemies.

The same egg aiming and throwing mechanic is back along with the floating jump of Yoshi. Most importantly is Yoshi's long chameleon like tongue, on which he grab enemies and converts them to eggs.

Yoshi's of different colors are seen throughout the trailer, and a new giant egg is possible when Yoshi eats an enemy much larger than himself.
