Watch "The Walking Dead" Mid-Season Finale "Too Far Gone" Spoilers & Recap

Last night, AMC aired its mid-season finale of The Walking Dead called "Too Far Gone," but if you missed it you may want to check out below the article before reading this recap.

In "Too Far Gone" the Governor got his group of vigilantes together to take over the prison after revealing to them that he had captured Hershel and Michonne for leverage. The Governor offers Hershel and Michonne some food and assures them that he has no intention to kill anyone and that he doesn't hold a grudge against Michonne for killing his daughter. Hershel who has been playing the peacemaker for some time now tries to find a way for Rick's clan and the Governor's clan to live together at the prison, but the Governor doesn't want to hear it. Hershel questions how a man who once had children could threaten his daughters, but the Governor only cares for protecting his own family.

Meanwhile at the prison, Rick reveals the real reason why Carol really had to leave the prison to Daryl. Darly doesn't agree with Rick's decision and the two go find Tyreese to tell him what happened, but Tyreese interrupts them both by pointing out a dissected rat someone left behind. Tyreese feels like it's the same person who killed Karen and David, but before Rick can explain who really killed them the Governor fires a tank shell at the prison demanding to speak with Rick.

Everyone makes their way outside, Rick goes to talk to the Governor, and Daryl gets the group fully equipped with weapons and reminds them of their getaway plan at the back of the prison. Rick tries to talk the Governor into them all staying in the prison, but of course the Governor doesn't accept Rick's offer.

Lily is back at the Governor's camp sitting on the roof of their trailer when she spots a walker across the river. Megan is playing in the mud making and digs up a sign that warns of flash floods. As Megan removes the mud from the sign a walker emerges from the dirt, grabs her, and takes a bite out of her before Lily can come to her rescue.

Back at the prison things start to heat up and the Governor takes a whack out of Hershel's neck with his machete and the shootout begins. Michonne manages to make it to safety, but Hershel isn't so lucky. When the Governor sees that Hershel is still alive he finishes the job by chopping his head off completely. Lily shows up mid-way through the fight holding Megan in her arms. Lily shows the Governor Megan's lifeless body and he wastes no time shooting her in the head.

The shootout attracts a ton of walkers who make their way inside the prison after the Governor and his people roll over the fences with their tank. Daryl takes the tank out by throwing a grenade in its barrel killing Mitch. Maggie goes to search for Glenn and get him onto the bus, but she realizes that Beth is missing. The bus of survivors randomly pulls off without them. Lizzie and the kids take out a few invaders saving Tyreese. Rick brawls with the Governor, until Michonne finally shoves a sword through the Governor's back, saving Rick, and leaving the Governor for dead. Lily sees that the Governor is still alive after being stabbed by Michonne and finishes the job herself; she walks up and shoots him in the head with the same gun he used to shoot her daughter.

Rick finds Carl and the two find Judith's baby seat covered in blood, leaving viewers to think that she was taken by walkers. The two make their way out of the prison yard. Daryl finds Beth and they both leave in another direction.
