Scandal Season 3 Episode 7 Recap The Truth About Mellie Comes Out
The latest episode of the hit series Scandal is one to remember, titled "Everything's Coming Up Mellie" the episode opens with Mellie giving a news crew a tour of the East Wing attempting to restore her husband's image after his affair became public knowledge, but Mellie will need to some extreme damage control if she wants people to think they're a strong team come election day.
We flash back 15 years ago when things seemed almost perfect with Mellie and Fitz. The two were attempting to make a baby until being interrupted by Fitz's father, Jerry who calls the couple downstairs and introduces them to Cyrus for the first time. Cyrus and Jerry want Fitz to use his military status to get him into the California Governor's office, but Fitz quickly shoots the idea down. As Jerry and Fitz argue in private we learn what the Gladiators have just dug up in their quest to serve this week's "client," Olivia's mom: Jerry headed the congressional committee that investigated the "plane crash" for which Fitz was responsible. "I covered your ass," he tells his son. "I made you. I'll destroy you."
In another scene a drunken Jerry reveals what really happened with Fitz in Iceland. There was a bomb on the plane and if it had exploded, more people would have died than just the plane's passengers. The Government had no choice, but to save face and shoot the plane down to avoid a huge scandal. After his revelation, Jerry makes a move on Mellie, she tries to fight him off, but he ultimately rapes her.
Back in present day, a drunken Mellie makes one of her speeches about all she's sacrificed and done for Fitz. Outside the White House the Gladiators are still digging up dirt on the flight. They learn that the flight was secretly delayed after a marshal escorts a passenger off the plane. They track down stairs operator for the flight and learn that he's now a security guard. Jake shows up to meet with him, but when he arrives the guy has been murdered by Quinn.
Quinn was set up by Charlie, who made her believe that she was sedating the man for Charlie, but she actually injected him with a deadly substance that had him foaming and bleeding from the mouth. Charlie captures the whole murder on tape and shows it to her saying, "Welcome to Wonderland."
