The San Antonio Spurs came to Miami and stole Game 1 against the Heat in the 2013 NBA Finals. That pushes the Spurs to a perfect 5-0 in NBA Finals appearances.
In Game 2 situations like this the 2-3-2 format of the NBA Finals seems ridiculous. If the Spurs win tonight, in Miami, the Heat have to travel back to San Antonio for 3 straight games, essentially ending the series. For some reason the NBA wants the road team to have the advantage in the Finals.
Coming into this series, the Spurs had the long lay off after sweeping the Grizzlies in 4 games. Nobody knew if they'd come out rusty or rested. Regardless, the Heat came into this series after a tough, physical 7 game series against the Pacers. Though they controlled most of Game 1 against the Spurs, they didn't have enough to close in the 4th quarter, giving way to a Globetrotters[esque] shot to Tony Parker in the last minute of regular time.
What's usually the Heat's hottest quarter, Miami only shot 20% in the 4th, and gave up multiple turnovers. LeBron James only took 4 shots, while Dwayne Wade only took 2.
If LeBron and Wade are complaining about being tired, how do they expect to contain Spurs point guard Tony Parker? Everyone knew LeBron would defend Parker at some point, and he did around the end of the 4th quarter. Tony Parkers, twisted knee and all, still found a way to nail that decisive 2-pointer over LeBron [who was playing great defense].
