Walking Dead Season 5 Release Date: Producer Says 'AMC Series Could Go Another 10 Years'
Scott M. Gimple, producer of the popular AMC Network science fiction television series "The Walking Dead" has recently said that the thriller may continue for several more seasons - possibly for another ten years, or even more.
According to a report in MTV, Gimple told Larry King in a recent interview, "As a TV show, all TV shows end, but I will say, I think it's possible that it could go on and on and on."
He further added, "I think if it went 10 years, if it went longer than that, it's possible that the cast - considering the amount of deaths on this cast and everything else - after 10, 12 years, it could shift into a whole new cast."
Gimple also told Larry that the new season will incorporate many additional action driven sequences. He said, "The story that we're telling demands [action]. We're not going to shy away from character, but the balance will be a little more towards action."
Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" is scheduled for premiere on Oct. 12. The last episode of Season 4 aired on March 30.
While a show going on for more than decade may be a crazy thought, the fact is that some other live-action shows, have continued for longer than 10 years as well and with the popularity of The Walking Dead at the moment, the estimate may not be far off.
Moreover, Gimple has already clarified that as the show is renewed it will change its cast members, many of whom we are concerned about, for instance, Rick and Michonne. In due course, the show could have an entirely different cast to the line up now.
