'Walking Dead' Season 5 New Cast News: Ross Marquand to Appear as Series Regular?

Reports have it that AMC's "The Walking Dead" will be introducing a new series regular when the fifth season of the show returns after its mid-season hiatus, and he might be played by none other than Ross Marquand.

Marquand is a relatively newcomer on the scene, familiar to those who know his role as Paul Newman on "Mad Men," his part in the web series "I Heart Vampires," his voice works for Conan O'Brien's talk show and an episode of "Phineas and Ferb," and many more.

While the writers are keeping quiet on his role, executive producer Robert Kirkman did mention a new gay character from the comics will be appearing in the show. He kept mum on the details of said character, but Marquand might just be the man for the job.

The comment about the character's sexual orientation might make more sense to those who've read the comic books though. For those who aren't in the know, there's an important gay character in "The Walking Dead" comics that makes an appearance, Aaron.

The official Wikia description of the character states, "Aaron is a character first announced in Issue 67 of Image Comics' 'The Walking Dead' and is a resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone community, formally working as a recruiter. He worked with Eric who was his work partner and boyfriend."

It seemed to tick a lot of boxes where the show is concerned, and not only because of Kirkman's statement about having the show's first major gay character.

There's also the fact that the show is gearing towards Rick, Daryl and the gang looking for a new home after the mess with Terminus and the church. It's not too far off of an assumption to think they'll end up in Alexandria. Marquand's role has yet to be officially announced as well, but it's pretty likely he'll be the one playing Aaron.

These details remain speculation though, and fans and viewers will have to wait and see when "The Walking Dead" returns on Feb. 8 at 9:00 pm on AMC.
