'Walking Dead' Season 5 Episode 2 Spoilers: More Nastiness & Drama on the Horizon
The AMC zombie-drama is not pulling any punches as it delivers more drama and more action in the second episode of its new season. The show has officially added cannibalism onto its list of shocking details that keep viewers always eager for more.
The second episode of the fifth season of 'The Walking Dead', which premiered Sunday, introduced some truely disgusting factors. Not only were the people of Terminus revealed as cannibals, but another scene was also somewhat gross.
Viewers got a good look at some "walkers" that happened to be wading through stagnant water for a few months. The group of survivors had to eliminate them as the "walkers" stood in the way of an abundance of supplies.
Stepping back to the season premiere episode for a moment, Rick Grimes and the other survivors were seen escaping from Terminus. They were reunited with friends, Carol Peletier, Tyreese, and Grimes' eight-month-old baby Judith and went on their way to seek new sanctuary. However, as Grimes himself said to his son, Carl, "You are not safe."
Now, Episode two leaves the group in a fairly maintained church, with the plan to head toward Washington D.C. However, not all is well for everyone in Rick's Group.
Bob Stookey he fell into the hands of kidnappers just minutes before the show ended. He was hit over the head in the woods and woke up with his left leg already being barbequed by the former inhabitants of Terminus. It's at this point in the storyline that the captors of Terminus were revealed as cannibals.
UndeadWalking offered up the theory that Bob might have already been bitten during the group's encounter with the walkers in the food bank.
In the original comic book series of the same name written by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard (on which the show is based), Bob's encounter with the cannibals originally featured Dale Horvath, one of the show's previous main characters.
Whether or not Bob meets the same fate as Dale in the comic book storyline remains to be seen.
In other parts of the episode, it was seen that the others fared no better than Bob.
Grimes and the gang were led to the church by pastor Gabriel, who was found by the group on top of a rock surrounded by walkers. While the man claimed innocence, Carl eventually discovered markings carved into the walls outside the building saying "You'll burn for this."
As it turned out the pastor barricaded only himself in the church, refusing to open the doors to those who came seeking aid and leaving them to die.
Carol and Daryl Dixon, on the other hand, embarked on a mission of their own. After seeing a car similar to the one that took Beth Greene during the previous season, the duo found themselves a car of their own and took off in pursuit.
The show's next episode, "Four Walls and a Roof," seems promising in terms of exciting advancements to the plot.
Rick and the gang have to deal with Gabriel and his intentions; Bob's eventual fate with the cannibals will be revealed; and whether or not Daryl and Carol get closer to finding Beth is still uncertain.
'The Walking Dead' airs 9 pm EDT Sundays on AMC.
