'Walking Dead' Season 5 Episode 1 Recap, Spoilers: Eugene No Cure?
AMC recently aired the first episode in the fifth season of the popular zombie drama, 'The Walking Dead', and fans cannot wait to find out what's next. The Season 5 premiere brought in the highest viewership ratings the show's ever seen at 17 million.
Episode 1, entitled "No Sanctuary," started off right where Season 4 left off- Rick and his gang trapped in the train car. Fans quickly noticed that Rick and company did not sit idle as they waited to learn of their fate at the hands of the monsters at Terminus.
Viewers can recall that Rick Grimes uses the chain of a watch to grind off a splinter of wood within the boxcar, long and sharp enough to do some serious damage.
After that, Rick, Daryl, and Glenn are on the verge of being sacrificed by the people of Terminus, as Carol steps into the picture.
Carol, played by Melissa McBride, leaves Tyreese and baby Judith behind as she launches a firework into a leaking gas tank that she had cracked open with a rifle. The explosion sets the monsters of Terminus in a panic, as Rick and company take advantage of the situation.
Rick quickly disposes of his two captors with the large wooden splinter he had hidden up his pant leg. After that, he rescues the other members still in the box car and reunites with Carol, Tyreese and baby Judith at a random shack in the woods.
The next episode will revolve around the group getting back on their feet, as they are without supplies. Fans are wondering whether Rick will guide his group back to Terminus to finish what he had left behind, or if he'll take them in the opposite direction.
Evidently, Abraham openly disagrees with returning to Terminus, as he's only determined to bring Eugene to Washington. Fans can recall that Eugene claims to know the solution to the zombie apocalypse problem.
In the premiere episode, Eugenge reveals some information about his plan. It involves targeting all the "walking dead" globally, and terminating them. The solution apparently has nothing to do with a cure of any kind.
Beyond that, AMC network is airing promotional clips which have revealed the introduction of a new character, Father Gabriel played by Seth Gilliam. The trailer teases the viewers with suspense and intrigue about the new character who will feature on their screens this weekend.
