Last night's episode of The Voice Season 4 marked the end of the battle rounds. And what a battle it was; not just from the contestants but the judges seemed a little more fired up too. Blake Shelton's southern-style English was called out by Voice host Carson Daly. Adam piggy-backed making fun of Shelton's hair. Usher realized he should never "pick a fight with Latin women" after sharing an adorable moment with Shakira.

As entertaining as the judges are, The Voice is really about the contestants. The first battle of the night was from Shakira's team. Brandon Roush and Shawna P. sang "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin. While Roush did have strong pipes, he lacked in experience and stage presence. Shawna P. embodied Joplin and converted her Nashville days into a soulful rendition of the late great Joplin. Ultimately Shakira opted for the queen rather than the prince.

Next up was Team Adam. Duncan Kamakana and Sarah dueled out on "Wanted You More" by Lady Antebellum. This one was an easy bet just from watching the mentor sessions. Sure Duncan could easily have a career wooing girls with a husky voice and acoustic guitar but Sarah easily had the best voice of the night, if not entire season. Adam makes the no-brainer and tells Duncan to take a hike.

By far the spiciest performance of the night was Team Shakira. Shakira chose her own song "Antes de la Seis" ["Before Six"] for her two Latina divas, Cathia and Mary Miranda. During the mentor session [with Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden] it seemed like Cathia had it in the bag, even impressing Shakira with improvisations on her own song. But it was Mary Miranda who earned a spot on Shakira's team. Never one to miss an opportunity Usher used his last steal to nab Cathia. It's a good thing for the show that neither Latina diva was sent home; they're both beautiful and have the voices to match.

Tune in next Monday for the first of the solo performances on The Voice Season 4.
