Last night's episode of popular History channel show "Vikings" was a major one, leaving Athelstan is a difficult position. For spoilers on next week's episode from the actor who plays Athelstan, read on.

George Blagden plays the role of Athelstan, and he recently was interviewed by TV Guide. He spoke about what filming this week's episode was like.

It "was the most emotionally and physically challenging day I've had so far as an actor," Blagden said.

He went on to gave away some spoilers about what episode 5 has in store for his character.

"I think people will see an Athelstan who they've not seen before. We've seen a very sort of devout religious man who's been taken away from everything and anything he knows and thrown into this Viking society. [He] managed to survive there, and now he's become a part of that. Now that he's recaptured, he's come full circle," he said.

The actor went on to say how he hoped audiences would perceive this new version of his character.

"I hope you'll be able to see a man who's been through so much more than he should have really at that point in his life," Blagden told TV Guide.

The fifth episode of season two of Vikings will air next Thursday at 10/9c on the History channel.
