Recently, American lingerie brand Victoria's Secret's new billboard ad, featuring ten skinny underwear models having "The Perfect Body," caused outrage for promoting an "unrealistic" and negative body image.

The models were described by Sarah Vine of Daily Mail as "having proportions of a Barbie doll."

According to Vine, it would be strange that Victoria's Secret would promote its underwear line without using models, "but there is a thin line between aspiration and thinspiration."

She feels that the brand irresponsibly portrayed those models on their ads as having the perfect body, and since some females don't look like that- they are reportedly promoting a negative body image and a lifetime of insecurities.

"Every woman who looks in a mirror and hates what she sees is a potential customer, lured by the prospect of finding the 'perfect' answer to her imperfect appearance," Vine wrote.

TVNZ reports that a petition was pushed by three British university students calling for the lingerie company to "apologize for, and amend the irresponsible marketing of your new bra rang 'Body'."

"We would like Victoria's Secret to apologize and take responsibility for the unhealthy and damaging message their 'Perfect Body' campaign is sending out about women's bodies and how they should be judged."

The petition from Change.org already received 11,500 supporters and still increasing, propelling the hashtag "#iamperfect" to go viral on social media.

The ad also caused an outrage from females on Twitter. One wrote: "The Victoria's Secret 'The Perfect Body' campaign makes me wanna throw up. Their idea of 'perfect' body is unrealistic #iamperfect"

"Stretch marks...because my body strained to get some hips and I'm alright with that. Victoria Secret perfect body collection? #iamperfect," wrote another Twitter user.

Meanwhile, Dove previously launched an entirely different campaign, "The Perfect Real Body" with featuring "real" women of different body types wearing their own underwear.
