Vampire Diaries Season 6 Premiere Date, Spoilers: Matt Davis Returns for October 2014 Release

Even as "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 finale on Thursday night took away some beloved characters, TVLine has confirmed that Matt Davis will return to the hottest contemporary CW drama as a series regular for Season 6, which will premiere in October 2014.

Nevertheless, the question is whether or not the major deaths in the Season 5 finale are permanent.

Talking to E! Online, actress Kate Graham remarked, "It's what happens to them that matters."

Last month, "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Caroline Dries disclosed that they have already begun work on season 6 and writers are currently hammering out the storyline. Talking to E! News, she said, "Season 6 will be a lot of us bringing people back together and picking up the pieces."

Following a massive explosion owing to the dangerous plan by Damon to prevent the Other Side from disintegrating, it is likely that the cast for the next season will shift. As no less than three deaths took place in the Season 4 finale, and it seems that Damon's plan did not succeed eventually.

Recently, Julie Plec, executive producer said, "The Other Side is disintegrating and not everybody is going to survive that," adding, "We're going to have to say goodbye to some characters that we've grown to love over the years."

In addition, the producers of the show provided insight on two things that will be happening in Season 6.

According to Dries, producers have planned something special for Matty Blue Eyes, perhaps to get him a love interest. She told Zap2lt, "We're going to try something in Season 6 that we've been percolating on that I think will really help Matt's storyline."

Dries also revealed to TVLine that Caroline is also working on a new crush.

"Caroline's got a little crush/feeling for someone that's going to creep up to the surface and cause a potential rift between her and one of her friends. So she's like, 'I'm going to push that down,'" she said.

As far as the premiere date of "The Vampire Diaries" is concerned, CW has not made any official announcement; but it said that it would be in October 2014.
