‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Release Date, Plot Rumors: Ian Somerhalder to Make His Return

Executive Producer Julie Plec has spoken about the affect losing characters Damon and Bonnie in Season 5 has had on fans, and how that plot line will lay down the foundations for the plot going forward in Season 6.

Plec told E! News, "Some are in denial, some are still searching for answers.  'They've got to be somewhere.  Where are they?  We've got to rescue them.'  Some have given up completely.  Each individual character's reaction to the loss of these two people will be what informs the beginning of the sixth season."

Also in the latest cast spoiler news, Ian Somerhalder's character is also set to return for Vampire Diaries Season 6, though details of the plot surrounding him still remain a mystery.

Could the characters be able to find peace and have the peaceful life they've all been searching for?

Paul Wesley, who plays the role of Stefan, said that Vampire Diaries 100th episode going forward might be the most "normal" of all.

"I really think in season 6 they should just take away all the powers on the show - no vampires, no witches - they should all be gone and everyone should go back to being normal, and then we'll see what happens," he told E! News.

In addition to that, Nina Dobrev commented that her character, Elena, saying that she will come to closure about her dark past and will be able to achieve her desires - "family, and stability, and love, and her friends, and everyone's safety."
