Season 6 of 'The Vampire Diaries', the hit supernatural drama series, is all set to premiere on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 8/7 on The CW Network with a new villain thrown into the mix.

According to the show's executive producer Caroline Dries, 'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 will have a new villain who is expected to shake things up. Fans can recall a number of the villains that have been integrated into the show's earlier season, Klaus, Silas and Katherine, to name a few.

Dries told HitFix that this time around, the new villain will be played by Chris Wood, and will be seen going to Mystic Falls.

Elaborating, Dries said, "He is just like a crazy person and he's super-fun to write and the actor's name is Chris Wood ... He's very charismatic and charming and psychotic and likable and unlikable in all the right ways, you get to meet him in a few episodes and he's gonna stick around for a while, hopefully."

Viewers who are familiar with Chris Wood, know him best for his role as Adam in 'The Carrie Diaries'. Now, he's tapped to play the antagonist who tries to stop Elena in her tracks.

Stepping into Season 6, things were left somewhat chaotic following the disappearance of Damon and Bonnie in Season 5. However, viewers will get a chance to see what happens to them when the premiere episode entitled, "I'll Remember" airs tonight.

Spoilers reveal, Elena will get going after Damon's death. A promo teaser of the show's upcoming Season 6, shows Elena devastated by the absence of Damon as she calls Stefan to solicit hope, but he says that she should say goodbye to Damon.

In 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6, Elena will be returning to school and will sign up for an internship at Whitmore Medical Center to become a doctor like her parents. According to latest rumors, Elena will have a new love interest after her beau disappeared to The Other Side. The rumors also say that Elena will also be a love interest for Alaric, though not immediately in the new season. Elena will hit the wall early in Season 6, as she mourns the loss of her lover.
