The Vampire Diaries Season 5 is down to two episodes and things are getting more intense as Liv tries to kill either Stefan or Elena.

Episode 21 Promised Land looks like it is going to be survival of the strongest and most elusive vampire, as Damon embarks on his plan to capture and kill Markos to save Mystic Falls. But the tables have turned - Markos is seen at the Salvatore Mansion attacking Damon.

Similarly, Stefan and Elena unknowingly face a death trial because Liv is already planning to eliminate one of the doppelgangers in order to salvage Other Side and their magic. According to Caroline Dries, executive producer, there will be three major deaths in the second to the last show of the famed vampire TV series.

On a lighter note, Enzo and Caroline will be sharing another "cute" moment despite the current romantic connection between Stefan and her. The Enzo-Caroline tandem has had on and off moments in the previous episodes but it is certain that the leading lady exhibits interest not only to Enzo but also to Stefan.

"I quite like the fact that he's kind of a solo, renegade dude. But, however, a little fling with Caroline would be pretty good drama," actor Michael Malarkey reveals in his interview with She Knows Entertainment.

Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon, told Spoiler TV that the deaths are irreversible and stakes will be raised that could possibly affect events in the next season.
