In new cast news, Shaun Sipos will be joining the show for the upcoming Season 5. 

Sipos will play the role of Aaron and will find that he has a tormented past with him. He will become Elena's new best friend and potential love interest?

"The biggest hurdles in their relationship come from external sources, people, ideas, notions that are trying to say they're not supposed to be together," Plec told to Entertainment Weekly. "It's really going to be more about them fighting to prove that they should be together and it's okay." Could Aaron (Sipos) be one of these hurdles?

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 on the CW.
