Fans are eagerly anticipating the Season 5 Finale "Home" episode of the hit series, 'The Vampire Diaries,' where Damon and Elena will seek revenge after the shocking death of the noble vampire Stefan in last week's episode.

In last week's episode titled "Promised Land," after Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) escaped the abandoned house after Markos and the Travellers found them hiding there, then witches Liv (played by Penelope Mitchell) and her brother Luke (Chris Brochu) also wants to kill them as well when the couple tried to return to Mystic Falls.

The shocking event that happened last week was when Julian (the evil spirit that is currently possessing Tyler's body) killed Stefan by ripping his heart out his chest.

As a result, Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) plans for retaliation for his brother's death is to blow up the entire town of Mystic Falls in order to destroy Markos and the Travellers current reign of terror once and for all.  

"[The finale] definitely establishes new parameters in the environment we'll be shooting in Season 6," said Wesley to TV Guide. "They reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place."

Some experts speculate fan favorite anti-hero Damon will die in the upcoming finale episode of Season 5.

"The Vampire Diaries Season 5 wraps in 24 hours," wrote Ian Somerhalder, who plays vampire Damon Salvatore, on Instagram after the cast finished shooting their final scenes recently. "Thank you for 5 amazing seasons!! Sitting with @Julieplec- she thanks and loves you all..."

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is expected to begin in either September or October. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 Season Finale will air on Thursday May 15, 2014 at 8/7c air on The CW network.
