There's been a lot of rumors surrounding potential 50 Shades of Grey cast members. From day one, Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder was a frontrunner for the role of Christian Grey. The latest bit of gossip is that the filmmakers passed Somerhalder up for someone else.

Apparently the actor who plays Damon on the hit CW show isn't too happy about being out of the running. When arriving to LAX a member of the media asked him who got the job. Somerhalder responded:

"I don't know, you tell me."

When asked who he thinks should get the job, Somerhalder quipped:

"Jim Carrey."

It seems Somerhalder has changed his tune quite a bit. At first, when he was the top dog in the Christian Grey chase, the actor was game for answering questions about the upcoming E.L. James adaptation.

One can never get bored of people asking about a huge project," the Vampire Diaries star explained to Metro Online. "Everyone has to realize every guy in Hollywood is up for this role. It could be anyone - that's how that goes."

Oh, that's how it goes in Hollywood?

Now it's anyone's guess who will play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie, that has now been given to Sam Taylor-Johnson to direct.
