Valve's Steam Controller Overhaul Image & Release Date: Twitter Post Shows New Design and Style

A recent Twitter post by Valve's Steam Database shows the new and overhauled design for the highly anticipated Steam Controller. While there is no official release date, speculation rests that it will launch sometime in 2015.

Valve's own Eric Hope provided insight into the release date for the controller, he said it's "realistically" looking at a 2015 release window.

While there is still plenty of time until gamers can get their hands on the device, at least they can see what it will probably look like now.

Many users on Twitter offered their opinions on the new design, one user writes, "@SteamDB they REALLY need to stop with those touch pads at the sides and go for conventional buttons/sticks."

Another user noticed one of the drastic changes from the previous model, "@SteamDB Not overly enthusiastic about lack of D-pad, those are almost a necessity in platformers and beat-em-ups imo."

It seems as though the controller has dropped its conventional D-pad, meaning many gamers of certain genre's may just turn away from the device all together. However, Valve has been known to change the style of the controller again and again, so this recent image is not set in stone.

Until it's official release or an announcement proclaiming that they've finished the device, the Steam Controller will always be subject to change.
