'Valkyria Chronicles' PC Release Date: Sega Announces New Windows PC Port of the Game
Sega has just confirmed through a Twitter post that it has decided to release its tactical role-playing game 'Valkyria Chronicles' on the PC, which until now, has been an exclusive for the PlayStation 3. However, the developer and publisher has not yet confirmed the exact release date of the Windows PC port of the game.
The announcement is somewhat surprising, as it practically came out of no where. Considering the original game released on November 4 in 2008, it was quite a surprise that SEGA decided to develop a re-make.
On that note, while Sega has not provided any details regarding the availability of the the entire game series on PC, however, some believe that the Japanese multinational video game developer will release all three 'Valkyria Chronicles' games on the PC eventually.
Positive reviews notwithstanding, the sales of the game were not very impressive when it was released six years ago. The game only sold 33,000 copies in the United States during November 2008, and another 77,000 copies during its first week of its availability in Japan in 2008.
All in all, the game has sold about 1 million copies worldwide. Nevertheless, 'Valkyria Chronicles' has been successful in retaining a cult following. Players throughout the world were excited with the news and tweeted enthusiastically regarding the recent announcement by Sega to port the game to PC. Some players are also optimistic that the game will also be released on the PlayStation 4.
For those that may not know, 'Valkyria Chronicles' is set in Europa, an area somewhat representing Europe during the initial years of the World War II. Due to its profusion of a substance called Ragnite, which symbolizes petroleum in this game, Gallia, which is a neutral area, is attacked by the East Europa Imperial Alliance, a group engaged in a war with the Atlantic Federation. In the game, players control the Gallian Militia, which fights to stop the invasion.
Originally, 'Valkyria Chronicles' was released for PlayStation 3 and spawned two sequels on PlayStation Portable: 'Valkyria Chronicles II', which was released in 2010, and 'Valkyria Chronicles III', which was released only in Japan in 2011.
