‘Unbroken’ Release Date, News: Angelina Jolie To Skip Hollywood Premiere Due to Chicken Pox [VIDEO]

'Unbroken', Academy Award winning actress Angelina Jolie's second directorial venture, is set for its Hollywood premiere on the Christmas day, but the actress will be unable to attend the event. In a video posted on YouTube on Dec. 12, Jolie told her fans that she has contracted chicken pox and the ailment will hold her back from attending the premiere.

The YouTube video shows the actress wearing a white vest that visibly displays the red spots, reports the Telegraph, UK.

In her message to her fans, Jolie said, "I just want to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the 'Unbroken' events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night I have chickenpox," she said, "So I will be home, itching and missing everyone and I can't believe it because this film means so much to me."

According to the website, Universal Pictures also issued a statement that read, "We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to her work very soon. She is in very good spirits, considering after two years of hard work, she will not be there the night it finally premieres."

Meanwhile, Jolie's husband Brad Pitt and their children have confirmed that they will be attending the event on Monday to represent her.

Angelina Jolie is the producer as well as director of the film, which is based on the non-fiction book by Laura Hillenbrand on the life of Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, who died last July.

Interestingly, the movie has received a lot of criticism in Japan for portraying Zamperini as a prisoner of World War II and showing the athlete being beaten and mistreated.
