Tyrus Morgan Dubbed ‘True Original’ As ‘Straight Line’ Draws Critical Acclaim

Singer/songwriter Tyrus Morgan is set to bow his critically-acclaimed sophomore recording, Straight Line, October 30. Co-writing each of the project's nine selections, Morgan offers encouragement, approaching the realities of daily living-from doubt and fear to trust and hope-through the lens of faith.

Crosswalk.com heralds Straight Line as "...one of the best albums of 2012," saying, "...singer/songwriter Tyrus Morgan's music is anything but Christian pop per usual. What's particularly stunning about Straight Line, too, is that Morgan is a true original, a rarity in our sound-a-like Top-40 culture. Only adding to the overall pleasure of listening is that there's plenty of substance to go with the style. ...it's an album that makes you feel good, the perfect soundtrack for a sunny day."

Straight Line is highlighted by the forthcoming debut single, "Song To The Savior," which features GMA Dove Award-winning Curb recording artist Nicol Sponberg. In addition, the album's opening track, the upbeat "Something To Believe In," is a signature anthem encapsulating Morgan's message of Hope to listeners.

"None of us are exempt from tough times and discouraging seasons when it feels like our cups are empty and we have nothing to offer," he shares. "God gives us something to believe in that never fails or changes. Life is more than just a 'go to work, pay the mortgage, go home, go to bed' type of thing, and it's our job to build each other up in good times and in bad. We should want showers of blessings on our brothers and sisters and they should want that for us. I hope anybody I encounter will know that I'm not just encouraging them because it's my ministry-I really mean it."

The project also includes "Where Love Stays," a deeply personal track for Morgan that features the mahelet, an Ethiopian musical instrument. Morgan's daughter, also named Mahelet, was adopted from Ethiopia, and the song symbolizes her journey, ultimately depicting the love and acceptance to be found in our Heavenly home.

A sought-after songwriter, Morgan co-penned "The Same God," GRAMMY®-nominated NewSong's most recent hit. A worship leader at Wellspring Church in suburban Nashville, he performs around the country and is also part of an artist partnership program at Little Rock, Arkansas' Fellowship Bible Church.

Morgan and Jay Speight, who has written songs for such artists as Trace Adkins and Travis Tritt, co-penned four selections on Straight Line and co-produced the project along with Kyle Lee (33 Miles, Pocket Full of Rocks). Straight Line is a Sycamore Sound Recordings release. For further information, visit www.tyrusmorgan.com or www.turningpointpr.com
