'Twilight' New Short Film Series Rumors, Cast News: Kristen Stewart, Kate Winslet, Stephenie Meyer & More on Board
While 'Harry Potter' fans are excited about the 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' spin-off, 'Twilight' fans now have their own spin-off to look forward to. Those who cannot get enough of sparkling vampires and shirtless werewolves will surely be satisfied with the upcoming film series, 'Storytellers - New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga'.
Stephenie Meyer, the author of the original 'Twilight' book series, is teaming up with female filmmakers to produce five short films set in the 'Twilight' universe. Unfortunately, fans should not expect the original film's cast to make a return for these spin-offs.
While that there is not much else to say about the films right now, Lionsgate (the producers behind the movies) said that the stories will hold true to the original franchise. They added that the plotlines will be "based on a broad spectrum of characters from the 'Twilight' universe."
Stephenie Meyer, Kristen Stewart, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, Jennifer Lee ('Frozen' co-writer and co-director), Catherine Hardwicke ('Twilight' director), Julie Bowen, and Women In Film President Cathy Schulman are on the voting board.
"We think Facebook is a great way for us to introduce the world of 'Twilight' to a whole new audience while re-energizing existing fans," Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns told New York Times, "This is the just the beginning - a template, if you will. You can probably guess what might be coming next."
Talking about this campaign, actress Kristen Stewart has accredited the franchise for whoever she is today, "On an exceptionally obvious note, it's opened a lot of doors, but I've become who I am because of that," Kristen said about the saga's influence on her life.
