'True Detective' Season 2 Spoilers: Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch Rumored To Join Cast

After HBO's success with the 'Game of Thrones' series, the network is expecting to launch another surefire hit with 'True Detectives'. The show, which originally premiered in January this year, is scheduled to release Season 2 next year in the same month.

Film Divider has recently reported that 'In Bruges' actor Colin Farrell might be in talks to star in the upcoming season for the crime drama series, along with 'X-Men: Origins' star Taylor Kitsch.

'True Detective' Season 1 featured 'Fool's Gold' star Matthew McConaughey as Detective Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson as Detective Marty Hart. The series was both well-received by viewers and was highly acclaimed by critics.

Before Colin Farrell was considered to take on a lead role in the series, 'True Detective' producers apparently pursued Christian Bale for the show's central character. The 'Batman' star decided not to take the role because of the extensive amount of time that the project would require.

Although the news that Farrel and the former Gambit actor, Kitsch, were reportedly tapped to portray lead roles in the upcoming 'True Detective' season, the producers of the show have not officially confirmed or denied the news.

Film Divider further stated that Farrell's role will supposed role will be part of the series' central investigators, along with his presumed partner, which is likely to be Kitsch, and another character, a woman whose role is purportedly a Monterey Sheriff.

According to the website, Season 2 of 'True Detective' will start off with the murder of a character named Ray Caspar.

Before 'The Recruit' star Farrell was rumored to have been recruited for the surefire HBO hit, 'World War Z' actor Brad Pitt was said to have been one of the producers' top choices.
