True Detective Season 2 Spoilers, Cast Rumors: Christian Bale Rumored to Reject Lead Role in Second Installment
If the latest reports are accurate, then actor Christian Bale has rejected the offer to portray the lead character in the crime drama series 'True Detective' for its Season 2.
As it stands, HBO is getting ready for the second season of the show, which follows the successful eight-episode 'True Dectective' Season 1. In the first season, the show was packed with strong lead actors, including Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Recently, show creator Nic Pizzolatto confirmed that 'True Detective' Season 2 will have an entirely different story and also some different characters. According to Pizzolatto, the previous detectives McConaughey and Harrelson will not feature in the second season.
Latest reports stated that HBO contacted Christian Bale for the lead role in Season 2 to replace either McConaughey or Harrelson. However, it is said that Bale refused the role, as he leaned towards 'The Deep Blue Good-By' - a film adaptation of John D. McDonald's novel having the same title.
Christian Bale is, however, not the only actor who is rumored to have been considered for the second season of the show. The producers are rumored to have Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Jessica Chastain, Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin and Colin Farell in mind for the new season.
According to Pizzolatto, the script of 'True Detective' Season 2 is halfway finished. He also disclosed that next season of the show will feature four main characters instead of the initially rumored three lead roles in the first season.
He also confirmed that the new season will be filmed in California. Although HBO is yet to announce the premiere date of 'True Detective' Season 2, various reports have claimed that the series will air starting January, 2015.
