‘True Detective’ Season 2 Release Date, Cast Rumors: ‘Secret List’ Targets Top Actors; Premiere Date 2015
True Detective Season 2 has yet to start its casting call, but Nic Pizzolatto, producer of the HBO series, has revealed a list of top caliber actors to take on the roles left by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Some of the prospected actors include Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain, and Brad Pitt.
The 39-year-old producer could not confirm any of the future cast members, and would only address his perspective on the matter, "I've talked to one person about [casting] possibly, and that has been it. We haven't cast anybody. I have a secret list and that's it," Pizzolatto said in his attendance at Banff World Media Festival.
According to Pizzolatto, True Detective Season 2 will also cast female stars, however, not for any of the lead roles. He previously announced his intentions to quit the show, but reconsidered and solidified that he will continue writing for HBO for another two seasons.
A similar incident also happened to CW's Supernatural, when its original writer and showrunner left the series' in the sixth season.
Since its first premiere on January 2014, True Detective has garnered 11 million viewers tuning in every week. This has been HBO's most watched series since Six Feet Under (2001), The Hollywood Reporter wrote. According to Deadline.com, the show's success makes it a legitimate nominee for an Emmy Award for Best Primetime Show.
True Detective Season 2 is expected to premiere on January 2015.
