'True Detective' Season 2 Release Date, Cast News: Matthew McConaughey Gives New Series Stars Some Advice
'True Detective' star Matthew McConaughey recently revealed in an interview how he feels about Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn replacing him and Woody Harrelson as the new stars of the upcoming season of the hit HBO series.
"I've very confident they're going to have great words to say," said McConaughey to reporters, according to an IGN report.
"In Nic Pizzolatto, the creator and writer, you have a great resource to go and just understand what the hell you are saying. And that did a lot for me to give me the identity of Rust Cohle. And Nick writes with such clarity and identity that there's no room for attitude. He writes real men that own what they're saying. No one apologizes. Be different, not sorry!"
Farell recently confirmed his involvement in the series, where he will star as Ray Velcoro, a detective who also secretly works for the Mob.
"I'm doing the second series. I'm so excited," said Farell to the Sunday World.
"It's been shown time and time again how [channels like] HBO have raised the bar regarding production values and fundamentally the writing that all their shows are based on. It's extraordinary; it has reached a new level. You get to familiarize yourself with characters week after week. You get to build a life that takes a while to experience as an actor and also that takes a while to experience as a viewer. There's just a greater sense of life to it."
In the upcoming season, Vince Vaughn plays criminal Frank Semyon, a man who was attempting to become a legitimate businessman until his business partner was killed.
Other notable casting for Season 2 includes Leven Rambin, Kelly Reilly, Michael Irby, Abigail Spencer and Taylor Kitsch.
"Yeah, I'm really excited. I've just been prepping," said Kitsch to AdWeek.
"It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue. You've just got to grind it out."
There are reports that claim that Rachel McAdams will also star in the critically acclaimed crime drama, but that information has not been confirmed.
Similar to Season 1, it is expected that Season 2 of 'True Detective' will return in January (2015) on HBO, but the official release date has not yet been confirmed yet.
