'True Detective' Season 2 Cast Rumors: ‘Mad Men’ Actor Jon Hamm Rumored to Appear
The first season of HBO Original's True Detective was a smashing hit especially with its star-studded cast that includes Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Season 2 is still on its way, but details of its production are being kept from public knowledge.
Based on a leaked script of True Detective, it appears that producers and writers have opted to cast a single male lead contrary to previous reports that it will star two actors. This is contradicting to comments made by executive producer Nic Pizzolatto that Season 2 will also star a female lead apart from the male one.
Names of actors like Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, and Emma Stone, who were rumored to join the show, may be put to rest until the producers are ready to issue official casting calls. Further, rumors of Jon Hamm being casted for a lead male role continue to emerge together with America Ferrera as his female counterpart.
True Detective Rumors blog cited, "Hamm is a wild card as he's brilliant on Mad Men but we wouldn't want a carbon copy of Don Draper on True Detective. This isn't to say that Hamm isn't a talented actor who could pull it off, rather he's the type of character on Mad Men that might fit too well into True Detective which could come off as repetitive."
Pizzolatto also mentioned that the majority of scenes for the second season will be shot in California instead of Los Angeles. True Detective Season 2 is expected to return to HBO on January 2015.
