‘True Detective’ Season 2 Cast News, Rumors: Female Lead Offered To Rachel McAdams?
Last month, HBO confirmed that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will be starring in 'True Detective' when the show returns for its second season, but they did not mention who would be playing the female lead role.
However, news has just surfaced saying the part has been offered to Rachel McAdams.
Rumor has it that McAdams emerged the front-runner amongst the other actresses considered for the part. Apparently, Jessica Biel and Malin Akerman were in the running for the role.
'The Notebook' actress and the production team are allegedly already negotiating scheduling, since McAdams is also shooting for an upcoming movie.
"McAdams was about to start filming 'Spotlight', the drama revolving around the Catholic Church sex scandal uncovered by the Boston Globe, and it was unknown whether dates could be worked out for McAdams to do that film and 'True Detective'." read part of a report by Variety.
The report went on to say that a deal had been worked out which allows the actress to work on both projects at the same time.
Stepping into the second season of 'True Detective', the story will follow three police officers and a career criminal.
It is said that the role offered to McAdams is that of Ani Bezzerides, who is one of the police officers. The character is described to be tough, professional, and does not tolerate nonsense at work, but is a drinker and gambler outside of her job.
Farrell will be playing one of the cops, Rey Velcoro, while Vaughn will be acting as Frank Semyon, a career criminal who is in danger of losing his empire.
There is still no confirmation as to who will play the other cop, but it is speculated that Taylor Kitsch will land the role.
The release date for 'True Detective' Season 2 is also still unconfirmed, but it is expected to return in Summer of 2015.
